What is a charter school?

Charter schools are public schools that are independently-operated and have the freedom to design classrooms that meet their students’ needs.

What does a day at LEAD Academy look like?

Days will look slightly different depending on the student’s grade level, but here is an example of a normal day’s schedule at LEAD Academy.

What do I need to do to register?

Registration is open until May 10th for anyone who is interested in choosing LEAD Academy for their rising Kindergarten through 5th grade student. Click here to register.

What happens after that?

Once registration closes, we will conduct a lottery for the grade levels where we have more students than we can enroll.

When will parents know if their child is accepted?

Once we have drawn the numbers of the students who we can accept, we will contact those parents by e-mail and let them know.  We expect this to be on or around May 15th. Parents will then have until May 29th to let LEAD Academy know if they wish to accept their spot for their child/children.

what is next if my child is selected or not selected in the lottery?

Parents will need to fill out enrollment forms giving LEAD permission to request academic records from any previous school and other required documentation, such a blue slips, proof of residency in the county.

At any point when LEAD determines there is an opening in any grade, the next number/student will be contacted and offered a place at the school. We will keep an on-going list of applicants and fill available student spots in the order they were pulled on the lottery date. 

What about siblings? 

We are going to make every effort to keep families together. Once one child's name is pulled in the lottery, if a family has registered other children before the May 10th deadline, the remaining children will get in as well.
